DB Courtney Stuart Arrested
Well Mountaineer fans, this isn’t the news you would like to hear. Courtney Stuart (6-2, 211 RS Junior) was arrested due to charges involving stolen property in Arizona. Stuart was arrested on Monday and is still in the West Virginia Jail.
Stuart’s attorney said that he was held with burglary charges and trafficking in Arizona. His hometown Phoenix is where this mess took place, he was at some party and he stole cd’s and a laptop.
Stuart plays on the special teams but hasn’t been seen on the field the last four games. Head coach Bill Stewart will not take any actions until more facts have been gathered and more research has been done.
WVU Continues Dominance Over Marshall
The Mountaineers (5-1, 1-0) managed to rally in the second half by scoring 21 unanswered points, overcoming a 7-3 halftime deficit, as West Virginia beat Marshall (4-3, 2-1) 24-7. Freshman QB Geno Smith came into the game early, replacing Jarret Brown who went down with an early injury.
Brown took a helmet-to-helmet hit from 3 different Marshall players on the fourth play of their opening drive, causing him to miss the remainder of the game. His injury was later determined as a concussion.

The Mountaineers were able to cruise past Syracuse (2-4, 0-2) 34-13 in their first Big East game and win of the season. West Virginia’s defense caused an early turnover with an interception by redshirt sophmore Josh Taylor leading to a Jarret Brown touchdown pass to Noel Devine on the first play of the drive. Devine also rushed for a touchdown while having a rather quiet day with 91 yards rushing on 22 attempts. Redshirt freshman Ryan Clarke contributed to the Mountaineer’s early lead with 2 rushing touchdowns of his own.
WVU VS Syracuse Game Chosen To Be Televised
The game between the West Virginia Mountaineers and Syracuse on Saturday, October 10 has been put on a certain list, a six day selection option to be televised on ABC.
If the West Virginia vs Syracuse game is not televised, then the Connecticut at Pittsburgh game will be for sure. It will be aired at 3:30 pm and the other game will be live at noon.
But before this game happens, the Mountaineers (2-1) will face Colorado (1-2) in Morgantown on Thursday night, October 1 at 7:30 pm. Last year West Virginia struggled against this Colorado team but look to get their revenge back on Thursday.
WVU Puts Out The Flames
The West Virginia Mountaineers recorded their first win of the 2009-2010 season against the Liberty Flames, despite a slow offensive start for the Mountaineers. The Mountaineers won its sixth stright season opener with the win over the Flames. Tyler Bitancurt opened up the game with one of his four field goals, leading WVU to a 33-20 victory. Noel Devine rushed for 112 yards on 17 attempts with a TD as Jarret Brown ran for 69 yards on 9 carries along with a 22 yard TD run of his own. Brown also threw for 243 yards while going 19/26 with no interceptions or touchdowns in WVU’s first game without Pat White.
Former WVU And Current Buffalo Bill Ellis Lankster Shines With Two Picks. McAfee holds is own
Former West Virginia CB and current Buffalo Bill rookie Ellis Lankster shines against the Chicago Bears by recording two interceptions. The 5″9 190 CB led the defense with two out of the five turnovers forced by the Bills. Lankster’s picks, both thrown by Chicago QB Brett Basanez, resulted in Buffalo points in a 34-second span. Lankster also recorded 2 tackles to go along with his picks in their victory over the Bears 27-20. He will be back in action on Saturday, August 22 against the Green Bay Packers.
