Darryl “Truck” Bryant, West Virginia University’s basketball teams starting point guard has been suspended indefinitely from all team related activities after being arrested for two traffic incidents in a two week period.

The first incident occurred June 21 outside of a night club in Morgantown. Bryant had reportedly “bumped” a male pedestrian with his vehicle and then fled the scene. The victim identified the driver as Darryl Bryant and the passenger as WVU power forward Kevin Jones. Two weeks later Bryant struck a vehicle near his home in Morgantown. The victim said in the police report that “Bryant came to her door, opened it, and started yelling at me.” Bryant would again leave the scene of the accident. Police would later follow gouge marks to Bryant’s apartment and found Bryant’s vehicle parked out side of his apartment. Bryant failed to come to the door but police said that Bryant’s vehicle had a lot of front end damage and a flat tire.

The victim said that she received a phone call from Bryant’s roommate saying that if she wouldn’t call the police, Bryant would pay for the damage that was done to the vehicle. She responded by saying that she had already called the police and that Bryant should return to the accident, but he never did. Bryant would turn himself into the police on July 8 and would be charged with four misdemeanors: leaving the scene of and accident, failing to maintain control, failing to immediately report a accident and failing to give information and render aid. Bryant joins point guard Joe Mazzulla as members of the basketball team to be suspended this year. Mazzulla was suspended in March on a domestic battery charge. Bryant was WVU’s fourth leading scorer last year averaging 9.8 points per game
in 35 games last season.
